Mallzee Raises $843000 For Personalized Fashion Shopping On Your iPhone

Edinburgh-based Mallzee has announced the completion of a funding round around the self-titled mobile shopping application. Through continued use, Mallzee learns the individual styles that a user prefers and can help recommend new outfits and looks directly on iPhone or iPad screen.

The seed round injects £500,000 ($843,000) into the company on its first birthday from Par Equity, the Scottish Investment Bank, and a number of angel investors on the Scottish tech scene including Gareth Williams and Rob Dobson.

Mallzee’s catalogue now spans over 200 fashion brands, and in twelve months has a user-base “measured in the tens of thousands.” While that may not represent the hockey-stick adoption curve of some of the more popular social network applications launched in 2013 and 2014, CEO Cally Russell is targeting 250,000 users by the end of the year. The seed funding will facilitate that growth both in the United Kingdom and abroad, as well as allowing Russell to double the staff count to fourteen.
