Terrell Owens, Alyssa Milano talk football, fashion at Maxim Super Bowl party ... - The Star

NEW YORK — Alyssa Milano and Terrell Owens were quick to talk fashion as they each touched down for Maxim’s annual Super Bowl party in Manhattan Saturday night.

Milano, a host on the third season of “Lifetime’s Project Runway: All Stars,” was promoting her line of women’s team sports apparel, Touch. She was accompanied by three models dressed in items from her collection, billed as fashionable fanwear for women. Earlier in the day, Milano promoted her garments at Macy’s Herald Square location as part of the store’s Super Bowl celebrations.

Conceptualizing her line was “instantaneous,” she said.

“It was about 8 years ago. I went into the stadium shop. I was at the Dodgers game. There was nothing there that I would wear that wasn’t pink,” said Milano, whose mother is a fashion designer. “I hated the pink. I was like, there’s nothing about the Dodgers that’s pink.”

The Touch line began as Major League Baseball attire but has since branched out to include items for the National Football and Hockey Leagues, as well as the National Basketball association.

Milano, “a huge sports (and Giants) fan,” said she will not be going to the Super Bowl game today, where the Denver Broncos face the Seattle Seahawks. Instead, she’ll be rooting for the Broncos from a Super Bowl party.

Meanwhile, retired NFL star Terrell Owens said he “is not really rooting for anybody.”

No stranger to controversy, Owens, who was known to feud with competitors during his NFL tenure, came to the defense of Richard Sherman of the Seattle Seahawks. Sherman drew criticism for his victory rant during an interview with FOX sportscaster Erin Andrews after the Seahawks beat the San Francisco 49ers to qualify for the Super Bowl.

“I’m the best cornerback in the game,” Sherman screamed during the postgame sideline interview. “When you try me with a sorry receiver like (the 49ers Michael) Crabtree, that’s the result you are going to get. Don’t you ever talk about me.”

Last night, Owens said that he is friends with many of the players on the Seahawks team and is pulling for Sherman.

“I think now, since everybody’s rooting against Richard Sherman, I’m kind of hoping he gets his just due. I think he’s put everybody on the negative end, on the sour end just because of those comments,” Owens said. “And I think Richard Sherman’s a great guy. Now, obviously because of the comments he made — obviously regrettably so — I think everybody’s swung towards the Broncos and are rooting against the Seahawks.”

“He created a lot of fans to have them (the Seahawks), as the underdog,” Owens added.

Owens, who wore a beige suit, purple checkered dress shirt, purple tie and brown sneakers to the Maxim party, was his own stylist for the evening.

“I’ve had it for a couple of years,” he said of his suit, “and I finally pulled it out tonight, and this is definitely an event deserving.”

The entire look, which he said took about 5 minutes to execute, was prepared rather quickly. “It took me about 10 minutes (to get ready). I didn’t even put any makeup on or anything. I’m good!”

“People may think I’m high maintenance, but I’m not!”

Owens, Milano and producer Jermaine Dupri were among the better known stars to attend the party, which was headlined by rapper Kendrick Lamar, who performed at the popular bash.

Lamar arrived close to 1 a.m. and would only pose on the red carpet. He would not take reporter’s questions. But the Compton, Calif. native did say that he would be rooting for the Seahawks today.

Other than Lamar, top billed acts such as supermodel Kate Upton and actor Taye Diggs were a no show on the red carpet well into the early morning hours. Like its magazine pages, the Maxim party was filled with attractive and scantily clad women — on the red carpet and inside the party — where stars such as Owens posed on a mock snow lift, complete with sexy snow bunnies.
