US Open 2014: Watch a bee delay Venus Williams’ first-round match (VIDEO) – The Star

You’ve seen insects interrupt games and matches in the past (just ask former Yankee Joba Chamberlain about midges in Cleveland during the 2007 ALDS), so it’s time to add the 2014 U.S. Open bee to the Critter Hall of Fame.

A bee attacked Kimiko Date-Krumm, as you can see above, during her first-round match against Venus Williams, who was later a target for the insect. Neither player wanted to smack the bee with a well-timed forehand, so Williams eventually took care of it, letting it land on her racquet before some ballpeople came in to escort it away, presumably to find something sweet at the food court.
