Video footage was released today of Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston walking out of a Tallahassee grocery store last month without paying for more than $30 worth of seafood.
The Hueytown native was issued a civil citation after sheriff’s deputies said he walked out of a Tallahassee Publix without paying for $32.72 worth of crab legs and crawfish.
The footage, shot April 29th, shows the Heisman Trophy winner walking out the store.
Winston, the odds-on favorite to win the 2014 Heisman, was suspended for a three-game baseball series over the incident. Football coach Jimbo Fisher said this week he believes the suspension is sufficient and Winston won’t be suspended from any football activities.
Winston’s father, Antonor Winston, told USA Today his son should’ve called the store when he realized he didn’t pay, and said his son should have a representative of the university with him at all times.
“He’s supposed to have somebody around him 24/7,” Antonor Winston said.
