This week, Warsaw is the meeting ground for hundreds of global advocates for the rule of law, as it hosts the 2025 World Justice Forum. The event, co-organised by Poland's Ministry of Justice,

aims to bolster the institutions that guard against government abuse and uphold legal accountability, according to organisers.

At the heart of the forum is a mission to address the worldwide erosion of the rule of law and push back against growing authoritarianism. Organisers emphasize the importance of a strong rule-of-law “ecosystem,” which includes courts, human rights organisations, anti-corruption bodies, audit institutions, election commissions, independent media, and civil society watchdogs.

Running from Monday through Thursday, the forum gathers a diverse group of participants—from business leaders to young activists—who will collaborate to share insights, define shared goals, and craft strategies for promoting transparency and justice.

Among the key issues on the agenda are the role of technology in governance and the pursuit of environmental justice—topics that officials say are vital to maintaining accountable and resilient democratic systems in the modern era. Photo by Sang Hyun Cho, Wikimedia commons.
