Copenhagen Airport has just experienced the busiest month in its 100-year history. In July, 3.33 million passengers passed through the terminals — a 4% increase from last year’s
record-breaking month.
The peak came on Sunday, July 13, when 119,000 travelers used the airport in a single day, surpassing the previous record of 116,000.
Spain and Greece lead summer travel
For the fifth year running, Spain was the top sun-holiday destination, with 284,000 passengers flying to hotspots such as Malaga, Mallorca, and Barcelona. Greece followed closely, with Crete and Rhodes remaining popular charter destinations. Italy, France, and Turkey also drew strong summer traffic, while London topped the list of city destinations, ahead of Oslo, Stockholm, Amsterdam, and Paris.
Long-haul routes on the rise
Intercontinental travel saw notable growth. The United States led with 157,000 passengers — a 10% year-on-year increase — followed by the United Arab Emirates, which recorded a 25% rise to 42,000 travelers. Popular routes included New York, Dubai, and Doha, with Nuuk, Toronto, and Bangkok also drawing strong numbers.
Boost for tourism and connectivity
“We are very pleased with the high travel activity in July,” said Peter Krogsgaard, Chief Commercial Officer at Copenhagen Airports A/S. “These results show Copenhagen Airport’s role as both a gateway to Denmark and a hub for global travel, supporting tourism, business, and the wider experience economy.”
