The 31st Federal Yodelling Festival has opened in Zug, Switzerland, with an estimated 150,000 visitors expected to attend by Sunday.

The three-day festival features around 10,000 yodellers, flag-wavers, and alphorn players, including participating clubs from abroad.

The festival commenced with a flag handover ceremony in the central square on Lake Zug, although the planned air show by the Swiss Air Force's Patrouille Suisse was canceled due to an incident during a training flight.

Competitions have already begun, with yodelling, alphorn performances, and flag presentations being judged. The final day on Sunday will feature a festival play ceremony and an artist parade through the town.

The events are being held in 11 different venues, and the yodelling village along the lake will also host spontaneous performances.
