Over 55,000 prospective homebuyers took part in Saturday's Open House Day, according to the real estate agency NVM. During this event, approximately 9,000 homes on the market could be

visited between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. without prior scheduling.

Open House Day is held biannually. In the April edition, around 13,600 homes were open for viewing, significantly more than in the previous event. April saw over 66,000 attendees, an increase of 11,000 from the previous edition.

NVM explained that this time, there were fewer available homes for viewing compared to April due to the current tighter housing market. However, the real estate agency noted that the selection remains diverse and well-distributed across the country, as stated by Chris van Zantwijk from NVM.

The asking prices for these homes ranged from €135,000 to €3,650,000. The event was considered highly successful, with more than 50 potential buyers per home.

In the past summer, housing prices on the competitive market started to stabilize, making it somewhat easier for first-time buyers. Despite rising mortgage rates, house prices have started to increase slightly again.

NVM's research revealed that 35% of the homes that participated in the event last autumn were sold within four weeks. In comparison, 29% of homes that did not participate in the event also sold during the same period.

The next NVM Open House Day is scheduled for April 6, 2024.
