Sonaca, a renowned aerospace company based in Wallonia, has recently made a significant breakthrough by signing its largest contract to date with leading aircraft manufacturer Airbus.

The announcement was made during the International Aerospace Exhibition (SIAE) held in Le Bourget, France, on Monday.

Under this groundbreaking agreement, Sonaca becomes the official supplier of flaps for the Airbus A321XLR, further extending its longstanding contribution as a flap supplier for the A320 and A350 models. The company views this deal as a pivotal milestone in its diversification strategy, marking a significant step forward in its growth trajectory.

The Airbus A321XLR is an innovative single-aisle long-haul aircraft developed by the French aviation giant. Sonaca will play a vital role in its production, manufacturing the crucial components across three of its major facilities located in Belgium, Brazil, and Romania. Over 160 skilled staff members will be actively involved in the manufacturing process, ensuring the highest standards of quality and precision.

In addition to the A321XLR flaps, Sonaca will continue its production of slats for the A320 and A350 aircraft. This continued partnership with Airbus not only demonstrates renewed confidence in Sonaca's exceptional capabilities but also serves as a testament to the company's industrial strength and competitiveness within the aerospace industry. While specific financial details regarding the turnover generated by these contracts have not been disclosed, it is evident that this significant achievement will have a substantial positive impact on Sonaca's business outlook.
