The Lithuanian government has approved the allocation of €276 million from borrowed funds for military mobility and infrastructure projects. Finance Minister Gintarė Skaistė announced that

the adoption of the law on solidarity contribution and the ability to borrow this year have enabled the formation of an investment package totaling over €540 million.

In the first year, €276 million will be invested, with €148 million allocated through the Defence Ministry and €128 million through the Ministry of Transport and Communications. The funds will be used for various projects, including the design and construction of new buildings, ammunition and explosives depots, firing ranges, and the internal road network of the Rūdninkai military training area, as well as national roads and other infrastructure initiatives.

Over the period of 2023-2025, a total of €540 million is planned to be spent on military infrastructure and military mobility projects. Additionally, a temporary solidarity contribution of €380 million will be collected to support these initiatives.

In May, the Lithuanian parliament passed the law on "temporary banking solidarity contribution," which aims to generate more than €400 million in revenue by imposing a levy on banks projected to earn over €1 billion in profits this year. The funds collected through this levy will be utilized for defense, military, and civilian transport infrastructure projects.
