During the inaugural month of the summer break, Brussels Airport welcomed a total of 2.3 million passengers, marking a 5% upsurge compared to July 2022, as announced by the airport on

Friday morning.

In precise figures, 2,333,665 passengers traversed Brussels Airport in July. The airport highlighted, "The vacation exodus was more evenly distributed this year, given that the commencement of the summer holidays in French-speaking schools was delayed by a week compared to Dutch-speaking schools." As July initiates the summer break, the number of departures exceeded that of arrivals.

Leading the list of preferred destinations in July were Spain, Turkey, Greece, Germany, Italy, Morocco, Portugal, the United States, France, and the United Kingdom.

For the month of July, departing transfer passengers constituted 13% of the total. This figure is marginally lower compared to other months due to "the substantial number of Belgian holidaymakers." Flight movements experienced a 2% increase, with passenger flights seeing a 6% uptick. On average, each flight accommodated 150 passengers.

Nevertheless, the overall cargo volume declined by 11%, reaching 57,272 tonnes. This decrease is primarily attributed to a reduction in trucked volumes, as specified by the airport authorities. Photo by Lucash, Wikimedia commons.
