Energy Minister Tinne Van der Straeten of the Greens has announced Belgium's commitment of 2.5 million euros toward the installation of solar panels in Ukrainian hospitals.

These solar panels, equipped with a battery system, aim to ensure uninterrupted hospital operations during power outages. Minister Van der Straeten highlighted the significance of decentralized energy production, emphasizing its resilience against potential disruptions, especially from Russia. The goal is to have the solar panels operational before the onset of winter.

Anticipating potential challenges due to the critical energy infrastructure's vulnerability in the face of Russian threats, Van der Straeten views this as a long-term structural aid that will contribute to Ukraine's journey towards a greener energy system.
