Work on building a new wind turbine along the N45 expressway is starting Private developer Aspiravi will be building a new wind turbine along the N45 expressway in the coming months.

While there are already several wind turbines along the N45 between Ninove and Aalst, a new one will now be built on the territory of Denderleeuw.

The wind turbine will be built behind the Broekpark in Welle and the construction work will take about three months. The wind turbine will have a tip height of 200 meters, generate electricity for 3,400 households, and have a capacity of 3.6 MW.

The local government of Denderleeuw has given a positive recommendation for the construction of the wind turbine, which fits within the broader regional climate plan 'Climate-healthy Southeast Flanders'. The local government of Denderleeuw has committed to pursuing a 40% reduction in CO2 emissions on its territory by 2030, compared to the reference year 2011, in order to mitigate the negative effects of climate change.
