Poland witnessed a remarkable increase in exports to Ukraine, which tripled last year, reaching EUR 9 billion. According to the Polish government, this development has made Poland Ukraine's

primary economic partner in Europe and the second-largest globally, following China. These statistics were disclosed by Jadwiga Emilewicz, the Commissioner for Polish-Ukrainian Development Cooperation, in an event reported by the Polish state news agency PAP.

Despite Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February last year, approximately 600 Polish companies have continued their business operations in Ukraine. Many of these companies experienced a significant increase in their turnovers during this challenging period.

Emilewicz highlighted the substantial growth in Poland's exports to Ukraine, reaching EUR 9 billion by the end of 2022. She emphasized that Poland now holds the position of Ukraine's largest economic partner in Europe and the second-largest worldwide, only surpassed by China.

In the first five months of this year, Poland's exports to Ukraine saw a 52% increase compared to the corresponding period in 2022. Emilewicz underscored Poland's strong presence in Ukraine, particularly in the export of arms, machinery, equipment, and agri-food products.

To further assist Polish investors in the Ukrainian market, Emilewicz introduced a new guide providing information about the rules of public tenders in Ukraine. This guide aims to empower Polish companies to operate effectively and compete efficiently in Ukraine. It offers practical insights on government contract tenders and addresses frequently asked questions to support Polish businesses in Ukraine. Photo by Silar, Wikimedia commons.
