For those aspiring to become stunt performers, Switzerland now offers the opportunity to receive training right in Lausanne. The launch of a stunt academy in the city

provides courses tailored for both industry professionals in film and theater and enthusiastic amateurs.

Behind the creation of the European Stunt Academy (AEC) is Pavel Jancik, originally from the Czech Republic and a Lausanne resident since 1980. As a 60-year-old weapons master, Jancik has an extensive portfolio that includes choreographing fights and stunts in numerous films and theatrical productions, collaborating with renowned actors like Daniel Craig, Marion Cotillard, and Isabelle Adjani.

The AEC aims to address a significant gap in the industry. According to Pavel Jancik, many actors and actresses lack adequate preparation for performing stunts, rendering them "vulnerable" and inclined to take unnecessary risks when attempting unfamiliar tasks.

The academy's courses encompass a wide range of stunt techniques. Jancik confidently asserts that after completing their training at his school, students will possess the skills to execute actions like falling from rooftops, engaging in sword fights, or performing as fire artists. Lausanne's status as his chosen residence reinforces his commitment to this endeavor. Photo by User:Wikedpedialite, Wikimedia commons.
