The Swiss town of La Brévine experienced the coldest night of the winter season, with temperatures plummeting to -25°C, as reported by the weather service of public broadcaster SRF Meteo

on X (formerly Twitter). This frigid reading marked the lowest temperature recorded in Switzerland on Friday night. In Samedan, located in canton Graubünden, the mercury dipped to -22.8°C.

Over the past 24 hours, even colder temperatures were observed in specific regions of Switzerland where cold air accumulates due to topographical constraints, preventing its escape. For instance, Lake Sägistal in canton Bern registered an astonishing temperature of -34.6°C, according to the information provided on the online platform kaltluftseen.ch.
